Frequently Asked Questions

When should I repair or replace my Domestic current Boiler?

Replace. A repair can sometimes be as expensive as a brand-new boiler. And you could easily have more problems with a repaired boiler further down the line. A boiler replacement is usually more efficient and more reliable.

Your new boiler will be covered by warranty too – so if it breaks, the manufacturer will repair it with no extra charge.

New Boiler Services Company can provide a brand-new A-rated boiler from £1,795, or from £11.61 a month, including VAT and Gas Safe installation.

What is the Costing for a New Boiler?

Check the features and costing:

  • A brand-new A-rated boiler

  • A brand-new flue

  • All the right fixtures, fittings, and safety attachments

  • Installation from a Gas Safe Registered engineer

Would traditionally set you back between £2,500 and £4,000.

New Boiler Services can offer you the same A-rated boiler, flue, attachments, and Gas Safe registered installation from £1,795, or from £11.61 a month, including VAT.

Is New Boiler Service team installers trained and Gas Safe Registered?

Yes of-course. All our installers are professional, experienced central heating engineers with Gas Safe certification.

Would I get the Boiler Cover from New Boiler Service?

Not from New Boiler Service, but you will as part of your manufacturer's guarantee. Every New Boiler Service comes with a manufacturer's guarantee of up to 10 years.

You do not need to do anything to activate your guarantee – we will register your boiler with the manufacturer as part of our installation service.

Our Manufacturer will guarantee as given below:

  • Worcester Bosch - 10 years

  • Ideal - 7 years

  • Headline - 2 years

For covering your wider heating system, you can take out one of our home cover plans, which are available after you purchase your boiler.

Will boiler installation make a mess?

No. Our engineers will make sure that surfaces are protected and the area they are working on is always clean and tidy.

Do I need to do anything before my boiler installer arrives?

Yes. Before your installer arrives, clear away any clutter around the boiler – especially valuables and things that break easily – and make sure the boiler is easy to access.

Unless you are told differently by us, the boiler will normally be delivered between 7.30am and 9.30am on the morning of the boiler installation.

What is a Combi boiler?

Combi boilers, or Combination boilers, are the most popular type of boiler in the UK. They are used by 74% of households.
They are named ‘Combination' because they combine a high-efficiency water heater and a central heating boiler all in one package.

Combi boilers are efficient and cost less in heating bills. That is because:

  • They only heat water when you need it, rather than storing hot water up

  • They are small and compact, as they do not use an external hot water tank

What are Thermostatic radiator valves?

Thermostatic Radiator Valves (TRVs) are controls for your radiators. They regulate how much hot water flows into the radiator so you can adjust its temperature.

TRVs also let you turn some radiators off (for example, in a room you are not using) without turning off the heating.

Why do I need TRVs & How much it costs?

The Government recommends that every household has Thermostatic Radiator Valves because they:

  • save you money on heating bills

  • use less energy

  • are better for the environment

but they are not mandatory.

Each valve costs £35 and you can add these to your order when you get quote for your new boiler online

What is a flue?

A flue is a pipe, like a chimney, that carries waste from the boiler outside. You can see your flue exit (the part of the flue that comes out of your house) on the wall or roof of your home.

Flues can either be square or round. If the flue is less than two metres off the ground, or underneath a carport or shelter, it will be covered by a guard. This looks like a piece of wire mesh covering the end of the flu.

When you buy a boiler from New Boiler Service, we will also supply and fit a brand-new flue for you, along with all the safety attachments you need.

Will New Boiler Services flush my radiators and heating system?

Yes. As part of the work your engineer will carry out a MagnaCleanse flush on your whole system using a specially formulated cleaner manufactured by Adey. The MagnaCleanse  system has been developed by Adey and uses powerful magnets to extract rust debis from your system.

Once the flush is complete and your system is refilled with fresh water, the engineer will add Adey MC1+ system protector. Adey MC1+ is formulated to protect against both system corrosion and limescale deposition.

Will New Boiler Services undertake the Power Flush?

No. After years of experience, we have found that using a Powerflush machine on an older system simply causes more problems.

Instead, we carry out a Chemical Flush – which is a highly effective way to keep your system protected, approved by our manufacturer partners.

What is a Filter?

A magnetic filter, which we will provide and install with most boilers. It is fitted to the boiler on the return flow.

This catches any debris from your system and stops it getting into your new boiler.

What is a Plume Management Kit?

A Plume Management Kit directs 'products of combustion away from openings or vents into your property. This keeps you and your family safe.

Understanding Boilers

I use solar power. Can I buy from New Boiler Service?

Yes. Your New Boiler Services will work with solar power in the same way as your old boiler.

Simply choose a solar-compatible boiler. If your heating runs entirely on electricity generated by solar, give us a ring on 075742 06898

What is a System boiler?

System boilers heat your radiators directly and store hot water in a storage cylinder. They are usually installed in an airing cupboard or garage.

They heat a large volume of water and then store it until you use it. This means they are less efficient than Combi boilers, which heat water only when you use it.

What is a Standard boiler?

Standard boilers are also known as Regular, or Conventional Boilers. They store hot water in a storage cylinder, like System boilers, but they are fed by a separate cold-water tank usually in the loft.

There is another separate tank, called a ‘feed and expansion cistern usually in the loft too. Standard boilers are the largest type of boiler.

What is an ERP Label?

The ERP – Energy related products – Label tells you how efficiently a boiler (or another appliance like a fridge or a washing machine) uses energy. It is designed to help you choose the right appliance and pay less in energy bills.

The label rates products from A+++ to G. A+++ is the most efficient boiler you can get. It also tells you how loud the  appliance is in decibels and how much heat it outputs in kilowatts. All the boilers New Boiler Services sells are rated A for efficiency.

Can you Install if I live above the second floor?

No, in most cases. There is a huge cost for hiring specialist equipment that lets our engineers reach the outside of your home, and we do not want to have to pass that cost on to you.

If you want to talk through your options, ring us on 07574206898 or email info@newboilerservice.co.uk
